Community Farming @ Vihara

🌿 Discover Farming, Friendship, and Freshness at Vihara Community Farm

Have you ever dreamt of owning farmland or growing your own food, but weren’t sure where to begin?

You’re not alone. That itch to connect with the soil, escape the city grind, and try your hand at something real is shared by many. That’s exactly why we started the Vihara Community Farm — a space just over an hour from Hyderabad, where that dream can be lived, explored, and shaped together.

đźšś What is Vihara Community Farm?

Nestled in the peaceful village of Jameelapet, about 74 km along the ORR and another scenic 11 km through winding village roads, Vihara is a community-run farm built on organic and natural farming principles. But more than that — it’s a growing movement of people who want to understand where their food comes from, how farming works, and how to participate meaningfully.

We’re not just hobbyists. We’re building something long-term. And there’s room for you, whether you’re a seasoned gardener or someone who just loves plants on Instagram.

🌱 Why You Should Join

  • No Experience Needed — Just curiosity and a willingness to learn
  • Hands-on Farming — Learn how to grow vegetables, fruits, pulses and more using natural, chemical-free methods
  • Organic Harvests — Share in the produce from what you help plant and nurture
  • Seasonal Bounty — We’ve just completed a major round of planting: sweet potatoes, gourds, pumpkins, brinjal, corn, groundnut, and more. Expect a major harvest in 2–3 months.
  • Always Experimenting — Our latest trials include oyster mushrooms, and yes — Lion’s Mane is coming soon, once you’re in.
  • Pulse Season Ahead — Next up: moong, urad, arhar, Bengal gram — all naturally grown, soil-enriching and protein-packed.
  • Real Community — A mix of working professionals, families, artists, and techies who just want their weekends to matter more

🧑🏽‍🌾 Not Just a Weekend Plan — A Perspective Shift

Being part of Vihara gives you the perfect testbed for evaluating your interest in agriculture — before you invest in land or chase that elusive “someday” plan.

We run regular planting, harvesting, and maintenance cycles. And there’s plenty of opportunity to observe, try, experiment and even fail (because that’s where the learning lies). The goal is to develop a real understanding of how food is grown, soil is nurtured, and how nature responds to care — not control.

This is your test drive for the good life. Try it before you buy into the dream.

📍 Getting There
